Protect your PC with a Surge Protector by John Anthony This is an area that is critical to the continued operation of your PC. Power surges and lightning strikes can sometimes get coupled into your PC through the power line or phone line. These surges can and often do damage PCs. Surge protected power strips have snubber circuits that filter out these potentially dangerous power line transients. Protect your PC from power line surges Procure a surge protected power strip and plug it into any standatrd wall outlet. Then plug your PC into one of the receptacles on the strip that is protected. Usually they all are, but read the markings on the face of the strip to be sure. Protect your PC from phone line surges A surge protector with protected phone line jack is required to do this. Plug a standard telephone cable between the phone wall connector and the 'In' connector on the surge protector. Use a second telephone cable to connect your PC's modem to the 'Out' connector. Surge protectors with these features cost around $15-$20 dollars and are well worth the money!
