HTML Hyper Text Mark-up Language is one of the programming languages that is used to write web pages that are stored on servers. Every browser is designed to interpret and display web pages coded in HTML. HTTP Hypertext Transfer Protocol is the set of rules for transferring files (text, graphic images, sound, video, and other multimedia files) on the World Wide Web. A web page address beginning with http, indicates that the session being requested will use the http protocol. Every web server contains an http program that waits for and handles requests from an http client (browser). A request is initiated by entering a web address (URL) in the browser address bar or by clicking on a hyperlink. In response the web server sends back the requested file or files associated with the request. HTTPS Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol uses the same protocol as HTTP and additionally provides authentication of a website and the associated server. It also provides bidirectional encryption between the client (browser) and the server so that a third party can not read or forge the contents of the communication. Legitimate websites conducting online banking and shopping will always use HTTPS protocol.
